Baking with children is a wonderful way to celebrate one of
our many Catholic feast days, fill the day with a fun activity, and build
bonds of love. For the Solemn Feast of the Sacred Heart I have chosen an easy
and yummy dump cake. I am sure you are familiar with this tasty but simple
dessert that even the youngest family members can help with.
Ingredients:
2 cans of red raspberry pie filling. You can find them at
many of your local grocery stores.
1 package dark
chocolate cake mix, 15.25 oz.
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
Preheat ovens to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Lightly grease or use cooking spray on a 9 x 13 baking dish
Directions:
Spread raspberry pie filling in baking dish
Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over pie filling
Sprinkle chocolate chips over cake mix
Drizzle melted butter over entire ingredients
Bake:
40 – 50 minutes. To prevent over browning, cover with foil
last ten minutes or when it starts to brown.
Remove from oven. Let cool slightly and serve with a dollop
of ice cream, whip cream, or just enjoy it plain.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You.
